French police have arrested five people in connection with the Louvre Museum’s crown jewel theft, but the jewels haven’t been recovered yet.
A bold robbery at the famous Louvre Museum in Paris shocked the world on October 23rd, with thieves making off with over $100 million in jewelry.
Okay, so I heard about this crazy heist that happened right in the middle of the day! It was seriously like watching Ocean’s Eleven unfold in real life. These guys were pros – they used a cherry picker truck to get into the museum, then just took off on motorcycles. It was wild!
Police have now arrested a total of seven people in connection with the jewelry theft. The first two arrests occurred on October 25th – one at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, and another at a home in the nearby town of Aubervilliers. Despite these arrests, the stolen jewels haven’t been recovered.

$102m jewels still missing from Louvre robbery
Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau stated on October 30th that police had detained five additional suspects the previous day, October 29th.
Police suspect one of the five people arrested was involved in the museum heist, but French authorities haven’t released any information about who they are.
I heard on the radio this morning that the search last night and overnight didn’t turn up the stolen items. Apparently, the prosecutor doesn’t think anyone who works at the Louvre was involved with the theft, which is a relief!

Beccuau explained that these jewels can no longer be sold because anyone purchasing them would be committing a crime by possessing stolen property. He emphasized that there’s still an opportunity to return them.
Louvre Museum director Laurence des Cars explained to French senators that the museum’s security system is outdated and didn’t alert staff during the recent theft.
The investigation into the missing jewels is still active, but French authorities haven’t revealed their search areas or identified any suspects.
