Okay, so Scary Movie is back, and it’s hilarious! This new one totally makes fun of recent horror hits like M3GAN, Get Out, and Weapons. And get this – Art the Clown from the Terrifier movies even shows up! It’s a wild ride if you’re into spoof movies.
The first Scary Movie came out as a parody of films like Scream, which had popularized the trend of self-aware horror movies aimed at teenagers.
It makes perfect sense that the trailer for the new Scary Movie was shown before Scream 7 in theaters this weekend.
And now the teaser is online, meaning we can pore over the many, many horror movies being spoofed.
Art the Clown takes center stage in Scary Movie trailer

The trailer starts with a lookalike of M3GAN dancing towards a person on the subway, then shockingly reveals itself to be the Ghostface killer.
The scene then shows children running down a dark street, evoking the style of the film Weapons, followed by a character playfully mimicking a disappearance from the movie Get Out by sinking into an armchair.
A parody of the horror film Terrifier shows Art the Clown dressed as a mall Santa, terrifying children by giving them severed limbs instead of gifts.
Other films facing criticism include ‘Sinners,’ ‘Smile,’ ‘The Substance,’ and the ‘Scream’ franchise.

Here’s the official synopsis for the new Scary Movie, which is effectively Scary Movie 6:
Twenty-six years after escaping a masked killer who seems awfully familiar (Ghostface), the main group of friends are once again being targeted, and no horror franchise is safe from potential sequels or reboots.
Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, and Regina Hall are back in Scary Movie, joining both familiar and new cast members to poke fun at the endless cycle of horror reboots, remakes, and sequels. They’re lampooning everything from origin stories and ‘legacy’ films to those promised ‘final chapters’ that never really are. Expect no horror cliché to be safe – they’re turning every trope on its head and pushing boundaries.

Marlon Wayans previously explained to ScreenRant how he and his brothers planned to handle the long-awaited sequel:
We’ll stick to our usual approach: poking fun at everyone, because we don’t hold back for anyone. We’ve developed a unique style of comedy – a specific formula – that’s hard to replicate. Others can try, but they won’t be able to quite capture what we do.
Our upbringing shaped who we are and how we view things. We developed our shared sense of humor within our family, something we all learned from our mother.
