Players who enjoy games like Minecraft and Valheim are invited to explore dark and difficult dungeons in Decrepit, a new dungeon crawler from the creators.
I’m really hyped for The Game Awards 2025 livestream! Everyone’s talking about the big games and studios that will be there, which is awesome. But what I’m also excited about is the chance to see completely new games from teams just starting out – especially those made by people who’ve worked on some of my favorite series in the past. It’s cool to see fresh ideas get a platform!
Jämmerdal Game is actually the work of just one person, Olof Hagelin. He’s developing a first-person dungeon crawler heavily inspired by challenging games like the Dark Souls series. The game will be published by Three Friends, the same team behind the popular game Valheim. Before starting his own studio, Hagelin spent 18 years as an environment artist, working with well-known companies like Starbreeze Entertainment, Avalanche Studios, and Resolution Games – which he also helped found.
You can watch the first trailer for Decrepit below.

The video shows clear influences from the game Dark Souls, especially with one enemy that might be particularly disturbing for players familiar with FromSoftware’s other games. It also confirms the game will include elements of roguelike gameplay, meaning you can continue playing even after being defeated.
The game Decrepit is coming to Steam in 2026, with a specific release date to be revealed shortly. Players can sign up for testing now and add the game to their Steam wishlist.
