First Look at Nicole Kidman in Prime Video’s Scarpetta Series

Prime Video has released the first images of Nicole Kidman and the cast in her new series, Scarpetta.

Prime Video has released a sneak peek of its new crime thriller, Scarpetta, based on the popular novels by Patricia Cornwell. The series, a collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios and Blumhouse Television, will debut on March 11th and stars Nicole Kidman, Jamie Lee Curtis, Bobby Cannavale, Simon Baker, Ariana DeBose, Rosy McEwen, Jake Cannavale, and Hunter Parrish.

The forensic crime thriller is based on Cornwell’s bestselling book series, Kay Scarpetta, which has been developed and written for television by Liz Sarnoff, with credits in Barry, The Leftovers, and Lost. The official synopsis is:

I’m so excited about the new series starring Nicole Kidman as Dr. Kay Scarpetta! It really captures the essence of Patricia Cornwell’s character. Dr. Scarpetta is a brilliant medical examiner, and it’s fascinating to watch her relentlessly pursue justice for victims. The show dives into a current serial killer case, but it also brings up a pivotal case from her past, making you wonder if it will ultimately make or break her career. It’s a really gripping story!

This thrilling series takes place in the world of modern forensic science, but goes deeper than just the evidence. It explores the minds of criminals and the detectives who hunt them, showing the heavy emotional price of seeking justice.

The series Scarpetta jumps between two time periods. It follows Kay Scarpetta, starting when she begins her job as Chief Medical Examiner in the 1990s, and continuing as she returns to her hometown to investigate a disturbing murder. Throughout the story, Kay also deals with a complicated relationship with her sister, Dorothy, and confronts hidden truths that threaten to change everything.

I’ve been a huge fan of Nicole Kidman for years! She’s given us so many amazing performances in films like Moulin Rouge! and Practical Magic, and more recently in the series Big Little Lies. I’m so excited to hear she’s coming back as Gillian Owens in Practical Magic 2 and will also be continuing with Big Little Lies. Plus, she’s got even more projects coming up – I can’t wait to see her in The Young People, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, and Discretion too!

Jamie Lee Curtis is a celebrated actress, famous for her roles in films like Halloween and True Lies. In addition to her upcoming role in Scarpetta, she’s also working on several other projects, including Murder She Wrote, Ella McCay, Sender, and Psychosis.
