With 2025 ending, DC Studios is starting to heavily promote its plans for 2026. Following a recent reveal that excited fans, the studio has now shared an exciting action clip from the upcoming Lanterns series, which will be available on HBO Max next summer. Check it out!
I’m completely hooked by the concept for Lanterns. Imagine if DC created a season of True Detective, but with Hal Jordan (played by Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) from the Green Lantern Corps as the lead detectives. Sign me up!
Despite the Green Lanterns usually working as galactic police, traveling to the furthest parts of the universe, this new show – created by Damon Lindelof, Chris Mundy, and Tom King – will be a mystery taking place on Earth, specifically in the American heartland, as the preview footage suggests.
So, Task, with Green Lantern rings. Again, I’m sold.
DC’s 2026 Slate is Packed
Overall, 2025 wasn’t a particularly strong year for superhero movies. Marvel and DC primarily focused on building towards future projects. DC introduced its new Superman (David Corenswet) and revealed a new team of heroes, along with villains like Lex Luthor and supporting characters like Supergirl and Krypto. Meanwhile, Marvel Studios started exploring an alternate universe and introduced a fresh version of a familiar character.
Next year looks set to be huge for superhero movies. We’ll continue to follow Supergirl’s (Milly Alcock) story in a big summer film, and Marvel will release a more grounded Spider-Man adventure, all leading up to a major team-up movie. It’s starting to feel like we’re entering a new golden age for comic book films, and it’s happening fast.
