First Glance: “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been facing challenges lately, and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” arrives hoping to revitalize it. This is the fourth Spider-Man movie within the MCU, and the first since the popular, but somewhat uneven, “No Way Home” in 2021. Remarkably, it’s the 38th film in the ongoing Marvel series! Destin Daniel Cretton now directs, taking over from Jon Watts, but Tom Holland is back as Peter Parker, the role that launched his career.

Okay, so “Brand New Day” picks up four years after everything that happened in “No Way Home.” Remember how Dr. Strange had to make everyone forget Peter Parker to save the world? Well, that’s still the reality. He’s out there swinging around New York as Spider-Man, doing his thing, but as Peter Parker, he’s totally on his own, and nobody remembers him – not even the people he cares about. But things are about to get complicated because trouble from his past is starting to surface.

The latest trailer is short on details, but it’s likely to get fans of the series excited. It mainly introduces the characters who will be in the next installment, including MJ (Zendaya), Ned (Jacob Batalon), The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), among others. Personally, the trailer didn’t get me very hyped, but I expect we’ll see more promotional material before the movie is released.

The new Spider-Man movie, “Brand New Day,” comes out on July 31st. Watch the trailer and tell me if you plan to see it!
