Initially, Dragon Ball Sparking Zero boasted a rich collection of playable characters upon release. Even before the game’s launch, it was confirmed that extra downloadable content would be added later on. This decision was made partly due to the fact that some future DLC packs are linked to the ongoing series, Dragon Ball DAIMA, as not all episodes have aired yet. Nevertheless, the attention for the first Dragon Ball Sparking Zero DLC is mainly focused on the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie and its popular protagonists.
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero DLC Adds 11 New Playable Characters
Initially, it was anticipated that the Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Hero of Justice DLC would primarily include characters Gamma 1 and Gamma 2. Other significant characters from the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie appeared probable, but no definitive confirmation was made until the official DLC trailer was unveiled.
In a recent display, all eleven fresh characters added to the Dragon Ball Sparking Zero team were presented, and it’s evident that Gohan and Piccolo are central figures in this expansion pack. The roster has officially been revealed, and eight out of the eleven newcomers are variations of either Gohan or Piccolo, each receiving four distinct forms. The remaining characters are newly introduced, along with an additional Cell form from the movie. Regrettably, there’s no new version for Pan, Gohan’s daughter, who appears in the film; fans will have to settle with the GT version of Pan for now.
In recent times, Piccolo underwent a significant transformation, manifesting as Orange Piccolo during his battle against Cell Max. Similarly, Gohan not only resurfaced with traditional forms such as Super Saiyan 2 and Ultimate Gohan but also introduced a completely new one referred to as Gohan (Beast). This new form mirrors the early transformation of Teen Gohan into Super Saiyan 2, which occurred during another confrontation with Cell. Furthermore, there will be an additional costume option for Piccolo, modeled after his disguise in the Super Hero movie from the Red Ribbon Army.

Each new character brings an intriguing twist to the current equilibrium among Sparking Zero characters, yet Orange Piccolo and Cell Max seem to hold the most unpredictable roles. With only a few Giant Form characters in Sparking Zero currently, they can significantly alter battle tactics. If Orange Piccolo is capable of transforming into Orange Piccolo (Giant) during combat, this will offer an exclusive route for players seeking the potential of a Giant Form character, while still maintaining the flexibility to revert back to their normal form if needed.
The Dragon Ball Sparking Zero DLC 1 Hero of Justice Pack will become available for early access on January 20, 2025 at 3pm PST. Players who have purchased a deluxe edition Season Pass are likely to receive early access, with the full release scheduled for January 24, 2025.
