Fionna and Cake Season 2 Confirms Finn & Huntress Wizard’s Relationship Status (But It Probably Won’t Last)

The second season of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake officially confirmed a relationship between Finn and the Huntress Wizard, but hints suggest it won’t be a lasting one. Throughout the original Adventure Time series, Finn and the Huntress Wizard had a complex connection with a slow-developing romantic interest. They first encountered each other—and shared a kiss—in Season 7, Episode 25, “The Flute Spell.”

The romance between Finn and Huntress Wizard was very popular with fans who had followed the series for a long time. While they officially became a couple in the final season, some felt their relationship wasn’t explored enough. Season 2 of Fionna and Cake aims to address this by giving Huntress Wizard a more prominent role and developing their connection further.

The second season of Fionna and Cake explored the growing connection between Finn and Huntress Wizard, officially confirming their relationship in the episode “The Crocodile Who Bit a Log.” This moment felt earned, as Finn had briefly mentioned Huntress Wizard earlier in Season 1’s “Simon Petrikov” – the same episode that foreshadowed what would happen to Jake.

The latest episode of Fionna and Cake explained that the Wizard got his powers from the Heart of the Forest. It also revealed Finn can be cured with more sap from that same tree, but the Witch’s Wizard believes Finn deserves to die, arguing he shouldn’t have been there in the first place.

Huntress Wizard called Finn her “friend,” but it was obvious their connection was deeper. She was ready to fight the Witch Wizard just to keep him safe.

In the recent episode of Fionna and Cake, Huntress Wizard repeated a heroic act she first performed for Finn in Adventure Time Season 10’s “The Wild Hunt”: risking her own safety to help him break through a mental barrier. This episode also featured a repeat of Huntress’s flirtation with Finn, culminating in another kiss between them.

The most recent episode of Fionna and Cake Season 2 showed Huntress Wizard’s devotion to Finn, revealing she was prepared to sacrifice herself for him. However, it seems their hopeful future won’t last long, as several things are working against them.

Created by Adam Muto, Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake tells the story of Fionna and Cake, who are alternate-reality versions of Finn and Jake from the original Adventure Time series. The second season began streaming on HBO Max on October 23, 2025.

Why Finn & Huntress Wizard’s Relationship Won’t Last Long

As a huge fan of Adventure Time, I was really bummed to learn things aren’t going great for Huntress Wizard. Her fight with the Witch Wizard went horribly wrong – she was actually torn apart and spread across multiple dimensions! Meanwhile, Simon Petrikov, you know, the old Ice King, is trying to get his students to figure out how to help Finn. It’s a tough situation all around.

Finn is gravely ill because of a strong magical curse from the Heart of the Forest (also known as The Source, created by the Green Wizards), and this might mean his relationship with Huntress Wizard won’t last. In Season 2, Episode 2, around the 17:24 mark, Finn even suggested he’s accepting of his fate, telling Huntress Wizard he’s been “thinking about dying soon.”

Finn: “Huntress, I am thinking about dying soon.”

Huntress: “Bummer, you’ll forget all about me.”

Finn: “Never, Never.”

After Huntress Wizard was broken apart, her pieces became seeds that sprouted into ghostly versions of herself. However, each seed landed in a different dimension. Eventually, one of these Huntresses found her way to the world of Fionna and Cake, but there’s a catch: when The Source disappeared, so did the power of the Green Wizards.

There’s concern that Huntress Wizard’s dangerous attempt to get sap from the Heart of the Forest might have serious consequences. As punishment for accidentally destroying The Source, she might be transformed into the new Heart of the Forest, which could end her relationship with Finn, even if he lives through it.

As a big fan of Adventure Time, I was really worried when it looked like Finn or Huntress Wizard might not make it. Losing either of them would be heartbreaking, honestly. But there’s still hope! With more episodes of Fionna and Cake coming up, and the whole Multiverse thing going on, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they can find a way to fix whatever’s happening to them. It feels like there are tons of ways the writers could go, and save both of them.
