In Season 6, Kayla Wallace, portrayed by actress Landman, first appeared. Her character, Fiona Miller, was initially tasked to assist in setting up and instructing a new telephone operator in Hope Valley, with the role being crucial for managing phone connections linking the town to the wider world.

In conversation with Swoon, actor Kevin McGarry (who plays the character Kevin in real life) made it clear that Fiona’s exit from Hope Valley isn’t final. This implies that there’s a strong possibility she may reappear in future seasons.

Each time Fiona departs, it’s more of a temporary goodbye. It seems that not just for Kayla and Fiona’s character, but several other characters may make a reappearance in the future,” he elaborated.

In Episode 7 of Season 12, Fiona’s departure felt especially genuine. With a marriage proposal on the horizon and an offer for the salon, Fiona feels that San Francisco is the city where she can establish roots. She expresses this by saying, “I want to be someplace where I can make a mark,” having initially moved there to join the Suffragette cause.

McGarry added, ‘She’s been lucky to make wonderful friends during the show, and she seizes any chance to be involved. When an opportunity came up, she managed to fit it into her packed calendar. It was terrific working with her on set; I believe she did a fantastic job.’

Another motive for Wallace’s return could be his desire to spend more quality time with McGarry, as they first crossed paths during the filming of Season 6 and have been inseparable ever since.
