As a seasoned gamer with decades under my belt, I must say, the convergence of two of my all-time favorite franchises – Final Fantasy and Tekken – is nothing short of a dream come true! The announcement of Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy XVI joining Tekken 8’s roster at The Game Awards 2024 has sent shockwaves through the gaming community, and I am no exception.
At The Game Awards 2024, Bandai Namco announced that the main character of Final Fantasy XVI, Clive Rosfield, is set to appear in Tekken 8 on December 16th. Those who have purchased the season pass for the game will get access to Clive 72 hours ahead of everyone else.
In the unveiling clip, we see Clive engaged in combat with Jin. Interestingly, they share a common theme as they each possess the ability to manifest a solitary wing on their backs. This fits perfectly with the video’s narrative. As the battle ensues, Clive utilizes his pyrokinetic abilities bestowed upon him by Ifrit, using them to hurl Jin about. The clip concludes with Clive summoning Ifrit himself to deliver the final blow to Jin.
In the game Final Fantasy XVI, the character Clive possesses abilities tied to various elements like ice, water, lightning, and earth. It remains uncertain whether these elemental powers will be reflected in his move set for Tekken 8.
As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to announce that we’ve reached the conclusion of the Year 1 season pass with Clive’s addition! Eddy Gordo, Lidia Sobieska, and Heihachi Mishima were among the characters previously unveiled. Intriguingly, hints are strong that Anna Williams will join the roster for Year 2. Excitingly, Clive isn’t the only Final Fantasy character to grace the Tekken stage – remember Noctis from Final Fantasy XV? He was a guest fighter in Tekken 7!
