Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade demo releasing at the end of the year for Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2

A demo for *Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade* will be available on Xbox and the new Nintendo Switch 2 before the game officially releases on January 22, 2026. This information was shared by Naoki Hamaguchi of Square Enix in a recent interview with Inverse.

So, Inverse asked Square Enix how confident they were that *Final Fantasy VII Rebirth* would run smoothly on the new Switch 2, especially with *Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade* also coming to the system. They actually confirmed a demo is planned! I saw the relevant part of the interview where they said this, and it’s pretty exciting news for Switch owners like me.

We’ve focused a lot of effort on making the game run incredibly well on the Switch 2, and we think it really showcases what the console can do. Plus, a demo will be available later this year for both Switch 2 and Xbox, which will give players a chance to try it out and see what the new consoles are capable of before they decide to buy.

Check out my interview with Naoki Hamaguchi where we discuss the new game ports, his thoughts on the remake trilogy being available on multiple platforms, potential amiibo compatibility, the chance of a physical Xbox release, and even his coffee preferences! You can find the full interview here.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is out now on PlayStation 5 and PC, available through Steam and the Epic Games Store. It will be released on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S on January 22, 2026, and the Xbox version supports Play Anywhere. You can add it to your Xbox wishlist here.
