Final Fantasy VII is now available on GOG and Steam (new version)

Square Enix has released a new version of Final Fantasy VII on Steam alongside GOG today.

This updated version includes a faster 3x speed mode, the option to skip battles, automatic saving, improved combat features, and other enhancements. The original Steam release has been renamed to Final Fantasy VII – 2013 Edition. If you already owned the previous Steam version, this new one should automatically appear in your game library. Story

The powerful Shinra Electric Power Company now controls the world, having taken over the planet’s energy source, known as Mako. In the huge city of Midgar, a rebel group called Avalanche is fighting back against Shinra’s control. Cloud Strife, a former elite soldier now working as a mercenary, joins their cause. He doesn’t realize he’s about to be caught up in a massive fight to save the planet, and uncover secrets about his own forgotten history.

◆ 3x Speed Mode: Play through battles, exploration, and certain events up to three times faster!

◆ Disable Random Battles: You can turn off unexpected enemy encounters, though you’ll still need to complete story-related battles to progress.

◆ Battle Enhancement Mode: Activate this to automatically restore HP and MP during combat and fill your Limit gauge quickly.

◆ Autosave: The game now automatically saves your progress.
