Square Enix, the company behind Final Fantasy 14, is celebrating Halloween with a fun update for its popular online game. They’ve announced that players will soon be able to customize their character’s appearance with any outfit, regardless of their character class – a feature similar to ‘transmogrification’ in other games.
Players can now change how their character looks, letting them wear the appearance of any armor set, no matter their job. For example, a healer can dress like a heavily armored tank, and a tank can wear a healer’s robes. It’s a huge change to character customization!
Okay, fashion fans, this is HUGE news! Starting with Patch 7.4, we’re finally going to be able to use any glamour, no matter what class or job we’re playing! Seriously, this means we can completely customize our look and mix and match outfits however we want. Get ready to look amazing while you’re out there fighting!

Final Fantasy 14 used to have strict rules about which jobs could use certain armor. While all tanks and healers shared the same gear, it was more complicated for damage-dealing jobs (DPS), particularly those that fight from a distance versus up close. To help players tell these jobs apart and give them distinct looks, many DPS roles have their own unique weapons and armor designs.
Players can customize their character’s appearance by changing how their armor and weapons look, letting them prioritize style without sacrificing performance. Square Enix is now taking this a step further in Final Fantasy 14, removing all limitations on customization and dramatically increasing the number of options available to players.
Players are responding very positively to an upcoming change that will be included in patch 7.4, launching on December 16th. This patch, called “Into the Mist,” will continue the game’s story after the Dawntrail expansion, and will also add a new dungeon, trial, and other challenges for high-level players.
