Final boss in Cronos can kill you with one surprising attack. We explain how to win the final battle

The last boss in Cronos can be really challenging because he’s constantly moving and likes to launch surprise attacks. We’ll share strategies for handling his unique abilities and how to defeat him. Plus, we’ll explain the key decision that affects which ending you get in the game.

Point of no return

The Clocktower is the final area in the game, and you’ll arrive there while searching for the Pathfinder. Consider it the point of no return – it’s your last opportunity to save manually, improve your gear, and restock on supplies.

Get ready for the final boss fight! Make sure you have plenty of ammo, especially for your most powerful weapons like rifles or shotguns. Also, stock up on healing items – you’ll need them, as The Traveler will be in serious danger. Don’t bother bringing fuel for the flamethrower or Pyre mines, though. The Orphans won’t be present in this battle, so fire-based weapons won’t be very useful.

How to defeat the final boss?

The game’s final boss is named the Pathfinder, and you’ll battle it across multiple arenas. The fight happens in four stages, and with each stage, the boss learns new attacks, making it progressively more difficult.

The main difficulty in this battle is the Pathfinder’s ability to teleport right next to the Traveler. This is very dangerous, as the game doesn’t allow you to dodge attacks. You’ll need to quickly move to a different location to avoid getting hurt.

You can control how often the boss teleports by getting close and forcing him to attack you in melee combat. After he attacks, quickly move away and shoot him. Use standard shots rather than charged shots, as the boss might teleport away before a charged shot can finish.

Beginning in phase two, the boss’s attacks will get more complicated. The Pathfinder will start attacking with a combo and then quickly rush towards you. Instead of trying to escape, use a more powerful weapon to stop his advance.

The Pathfinder will begin shooting energy orbs at you from afar. It starts with 3 orbs, but will fire more as the fight goes on. To avoid them, keep moving side to side, or take cover behind anything you can find.

During the third stage of the battle, the boss gains a powerful new attack: an energy explosion. This attack takes time to charge, giving you a chance to avoid it. Use your energy boots to jump to one of the floating platforms above the arena. Once the blast has passed, return to the main fighting area.

The newest part of the final phase introduces hidden areas on the sides of the arena. You’ll need to use the emitter quickly to access them. These side areas contain chests with useful supplies, and they also offer a safe place to avoid the energy explosions – unlike previous phases, there aren’t any floating platforms here.

The Pathfinder will now generate electricity on the ground, so you’ll need to dodge it while continuing to attack the boss. The boss will teleport around more frequently, making it crucial to get close and force them to fight in melee range. Try to conserve your healing items for this stage, as it’s where you’re most likely to take damage.

Important choice regarding the Pathfinder

Once you beat the final boss, you’ll need to make a crucial decision: you can either kill the Pathfinder or let him go with Weronika. Each choice leads to a different ending. If you want to see both endings and unlock the related trophies, you’ll have to defeat the boss two times.
