Filmax Brings Spanish Horror Pic ‘The Hanged Woman’ to the EFM (EXCLUSIVE)

Film production company Filmax based in Spain has acquired worldwide distribution rights for “La Mujer Ahorcada,” the newest movie by director Miguel Ángel Lamata.

Lamata, recognized for movies like “Our Lovers” and “The Footballest”, is delving into the much-desired horror genre with this adaptation of Mayte Navales’ widely-read thriller novel. The plot centers on a woman who ends her life in the garden of her ex-lover, only to return as a ghost later to torment him and his kin. This movie promises a combination of traditional horror tropes and psychological suspense, taking cues from contemporary classics such as “The Sixth Sense” and “The Hand that Rocks the Cradle.

In this movie titled “The Hanged Woman,” we see Eduardo Noriega, Amaia Salamanca, Norma Ruiz, and Cosette Silguero as part of the talented cast. This production is a collaboration between Bemybaby Films and Imposible Films, overseen by Lamata, Marta Esteban, and Raúl García Medrano. It has received backing from ICAA, TVE, and Aragón Televisión. At the EFM, Filmax is offering a sneak peek of “The Hanged Woman” to potential international buyers who are excited to discover a new genre offering.
