The team behind Battlefield 6 has shared an update for players, detailing how they’re addressing the issue of servers being used to unfairly boost XP in Portal mode. They’ve also begun testing how players progress in the PvE mode. Interestingly, data found within the game files suggests a potential release date for the battle royale mode.
Progress on PvE servers
EA DICE recently reduced the amount of progress players could earn in games with bots, upsetting some fans who enjoy playing against AI. A community manager responded to player feedback asking for better progression on solo or co-op servers, and announced that testing of a new system to address this will begin soon.
I’m so excited! They’re finally letting us earn account XP and unlock stuff – like new content and progression tracks – when we play solo, with friends in co-op, or even on a bunch of awesome community servers they’ve hand-picked. It’s going to be great to see some real progress outside of just matches!
We’ve also added some rules to stop players from easily gaining experience through automated methods, often called “XP farms.” These rules include requiring a certain game difficulty, monitoring player activity, ensuring objectives are diverse, and limiting how much experience can be earned. Servers that break these rules will instantly lose access to progression features.
You’ll see a clear status message in your browser and on pre-match screens letting you know if a server is eligible to progress or not. This message will also briefly explain the reason behind the server’s eligibility.

Further improvements to the Portal
EA DICE announced today that they’ve made two more improvements to the Portal mode. They’ve fixed problems that were incorrectly affecting XP gains, and temporarily taken bots out of official ‘verified experiences’. Here’s what else they’ve been working on:
- Verified experiences with the Bot Backfill option disabled still provide full progression and XP;
- custom experiences offer limited progression, regardless of whether bots are active. This is to maintain creativity in the Portal while ensuring balance in earning XP.
The team noticed players were moving away from PvE servers and increasingly favoring PvP servers. They’ve also heard feedback about the difficulty and bugs with challenges and are actively working on fixes. They plan to share the improvements once they’re finished.
The announcement explained how both verified experiences and official servers work within Portal mode. Official servers, labeled as “BattlefieldOfficial” or “BFPortalOfficial,” are permanent spaces created and confirmed by the developers, offering classic game modes such as Conquest and Rush. Verified experiences, which appear in a featured section, give players full XP and change frequently to provide new and varied gameplay.
Battle Royale mode release date
A few days ago, a user named ModernWarzone posted on X that the Battle Royale mode for Battlefield 6 will be released on October 28th. This information was then backed up by another user who found the same date hidden within the game’s files, referencing a mode codenamed “Granite.” Insider Gaming has since confirmed that “Granite” is indeed the Battle Royale mode.
It appears Season 1 has a hidden surprise that wasn’t revealed in the official announcements. However, EA hasn’t confirmed this yet, so it’s still just a rumor.
