The Kickstarter for Farnia Village, a new farming and life simulation RPG created by the team behind Rune Factory 3 & 4, has successfully ended! This means the game is officially in development, starting with a PC release.
Shinichi Manabe originally aimed to raise 5 million yen through crowdfunding, but the campaign far exceeded expectations, bringing in a total of ¥31,930,842 – around $204,677. The project not only reached its initial funding goal but also successfully achieved all additional stretch goals that Manabe added throughout the campaign.
The stretch goals were as follows:
- ¥8 million – Inn Family Characters (Mother & Twins) – The Mother has since been named Hatsuyuki in the Japanese version so far
- ¥12 million – More Story Dungeons
- ¥15 million – Son & Daughter Characters
- ¥18 million – More Crops & Flowers
- ¥20 million – Many New Music Tracks
- ¥21 million – Swimsuits for the Protagonists
- ¥23 million – Swimsuits for the Romanceables
- ¥24 million – Loungewear for the Protagonists
- ¥26 million – Loungewear for the Romanceables
- ¥29 million – Winter Outfits for the Protagonists and Romanceables
- ¥30+ million – Japanese simple voice lines for the Protagonists (eg. quick greetings and battle grunts)
Manabe also mentioned that reaching the final stretch goals might take a little longer than the initial launch. Any funding received above ¥29 million will go towards adding even more voice acting, such as extra conversational phrases, in a future update after the game is released.
A major highlight of the game’s promotion has been the announcement of characters players can romance. Currently, there are six potential romantic interests in Farnia Village.

From left to right (The two in the middle are the protagonist choices)
- Bachelors: Aliassime, Zam, and Lamta
- Bachelorettes: Erykah, Kaguya, and Laplap
In Farnia Village, players will be able to choose whether or not to enable romantic relationships. Based on these choices and the player’s character’s gender, they can experience different romance options, including heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, or asexual relationships. Characters who don’t participate in romance will instead focus on building friendships and working together to overcome challenges.
Thanks to exceeding funding goals, ManaGames will add a child to the game, born from the player character’s marriage. This child will inherit personality traits from the player’s spouse. The game will also feature unique birth events depending on whether the marriage is between two male, two female, or a male and female character.
Currently, Manabe-san is planning to include just one child character. Adding more children would require us to create interactions and events to acknowledge sibling relationships. We should also decide whether players will be able to choose the child’s gender (male or female).

Farnia Village is planned for release on PC, mainly through Steam, with a possible release on DLsite as well. The developers, led by Manabe-san, estimate it will take about three years to finish, meaning the game is currently expected to launch around 2028.
