Alien: Earth renewed for Season 2 at FX

FX has ordered a second season of Noah Hawley’s science fiction show, Alien: Earth, according to Deadline.

The show’s renewal comes alongside a new, multi-year contract between Hawley and FX/Disney Entertainment Television, reportedly worth over $100 million. For Season 2, production will move from Thailand to London, with filming scheduled to begin in 2026.

Noah Hawley’s take on the Alien story has been a hit with critics, earning a 94% ‘Certified Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 85 on Metacritic. John Landgraf, head of FX, praised their decade-long collaboration with Hawley and expressed excitement about continuing their partnership, stating the network is eager to start working on the next season of ‘Alien: Earth’.

Noah Hawley’s new agreement reportedly lets him create more shows not just for FX, but also for other platforms within Disney Entertainment Television, like ABC and Hulu. Eric Schrier, head of Disney Television Studios, praised Hawley’s work, saying he’s created some of the best shows on television and they’re thrilled he’ll be expanding his work across Disney.

According to Hawley, FX has consistently championed ambitious, character-focused narratives. He specifically mentioned that, starting with ‘Fargo,’ they’ve given him the freedom to be creative and let the story unfold naturally. He expressed his appreciation for continuing to develop ‘Alien: Earth’ with the show’s team as they move forward.

The first season stars Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, and Babou Ceesay. It’s produced by FX Productions, with Ridley Scott and David W. Zucker as executive producers.
