‘Fantastic Four’ Trailer: Pedro Pascal Leads Invisible Woman, Human Torch and the Thing in Retro MCU Debut

Marvel has unveiled the first trailer for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.”

In this movie, Pedro Pascal from “The Last of Us” plays Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby known for “Napoleon” takes on the role of the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn famous for “Stranger Things” becomes the Human Torch, while Ebon Moss-Bachrach recognized in “The Bear” portrays the Thing. The cast additionally includes Ralph Ineson as Galactus, Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer, Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne and John Malkovich.

In this rendition of the Fantastic Four, the story unfolds against a backdrop of a futuristic 1960s Manhattan. Feige, during an episode of “The Official Marvel Podcast”, confirmed that the movie will be a period drama set in New York City. However, he hinted that this New York City might not resemble the one fans have come to know from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

For nearly two decades, the Fantastic Four movies have been adapted onto the big screen, first by 20th Century Fox and later by Disney, who aimed to integrate Marvel’s original team into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). During the 2000s, Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis portrayed the superheroes in two films. Unfortunately, a 2015 reboot featuring Miles Teller, Kata Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell was unsuccessful. In a clever move, Chris Evans reprised his Human Torch role in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” but met a tragic end. More recently, John Krasinski took on the Mister Fantastic character in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” only to suffer a similar demise.

As a film enthusiast, I’m excited to share that I’ll be watching “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” a movie directed by none other than Matt Shakman, who brought us the captivating series “WandaVision.” The screenplay is penned by trio talents – Peter Cameron, Josh Friedman, and Jeff Kaplan. Marvel’s own Kevin Feige will produce this blockbuster, while Jess Hall takes on the role of cinematographer, and Michael Giacchino brings his magic touch with the score composition. This promises to be a fantastic journey!

“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” will be released in theaters on July 25.
