The developers of Forza Horizon 6 recently released a teaser and revealed some new information about the game.
Playground Games’ presentation of the new Forza at Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 didn’t offer many details. While it’s good news they’ve revealed where the game will take place, some players were expecting a more substantial reveal.
Developers have announced details about *Forza Horizon 6* in a new post on the official Xbox blog. The post includes comments from art director Don Arceta and cultural consultant Kyoko Yamashita.

Japan: The right place for Forza
The developers acknowledged that players have long wanted a *Forza* game set in Japan, and the country also offers a fantastic setting for the series. Now, their biggest task is to accurately portray the distinctive atmosphere of Japanese car culture in *Forza Horizon 6*. Fortunately, they can use what they learned while creating the *Hot Wheels* expansion for *Forza Horizon 5* to help them.
Players have been asking us to set a Forza Horizon game in Japan for years, and we’re thrilled to finally deliver! Japan’s incredible culture – its cars, music, and fashion – makes it an ideal location for Forza Horizon 6. As always, we’re committed to accurately representing the country while still providing the exciting, open-world experience Horizon is known for, and we believe now is the perfect time to bring this vision to life.
The game will feature a variety of environments, from bustling cityscapes to rugged countryside and mountains. While not always exact copies of real-world places, the developers visited Japan to capture the true feeling of the country and bring it to the game. Players can also expect dynamic seasons that will change how locations look, feel, and sound. The developers promise that Tokyo will be one of their most intricately designed locations ever.
Gameplay in 2026, PS5 after XSX/S and PC release
The game also aims to capture a realistic “car culture,” as seen in *Forza Horizon 6*. While specific details haven’t been shared, the next installment promises a diverse selection of vehicles – including vans and small Japanese cars – and will heavily feature the ability to customize cars, appealing to Japanese car fans.
So, when can we expect to see the game in action? Sadly, not for a while. According to Arceta, we’ll learn more about *Forza Horizon 6* in early 2026. The game is confirmed to be coming to PS5, but it won’t be released until after the PC and Xbox Series X/S versions are out.
