FanFan addresses backlash over “disrespectful” Kai Cenat joke at Streamer Awards

Twitch streamer FanFan shared that she apologized to Kai Cenat for a joke she told during The Streamer Awards. She explained she regrets not sticking to her original plan and improvising instead.

QTCinderella’s Streamer Awards took place on December 6th, celebrating the best streamers of the year. Kai Cenat won four awards for his Mafiathon 3 event, and IShowSpeed was named Streamer of the Year.

The show also had its share of conflict. India Love publicly apologized to FaZe Adapt and QT after questioning his win for Breakout Streamer of the Year while on stage.

Twitch streamer FanFan faced criticism for a comment she made about Kai Cenat at the show. She jokingly compared his appearance to P Diddy, saying, “You broke the record for the most expensive haircut and the least educational university. And congratulations on your documentary with 50 Cent – that was you, right?”

FanFan called Kai Cenat “Diddy”… 😳

FanFan apologizes over Streamer Awards joke to Kai Cenat

Afterward, FanFan shared that she had apologized to the artist, explaining the situation and addressing criticism on her Discord and X (formerly Twitter) accounts.

I should have just talked to people instead of sticking to the script, but I mistakenly thought awards shows were supposed to be awkward and silly. I’ve already apologized to Kai for being disrespectful and explained what happened – they’re the only one I need to apologize to.

“I could’ve easily just not followed the script and improvised.”

The streamer admitted she wrote the script herself and that it was a poorly thought-out attempt at humor.

I still think the joke was poorly written and delivered, but I take responsibility for writing it. However, I want to be clear that QT wasn’t aware I was going to say it live, and actually asked me to change course once it became clear it wasn’t landing well.

“QT is not at fault here, this was a major case of miscommunication.”

I was just sharing my thoughts on Discord, not making an official announcement, so some background is missing. I still think what I said was a poorly executed joke, and I take responsibility for writing it. However, I want to clarify that QT wasn’t aware of it beforehand.
