Fan manages to bring Anthem to life and is praised by the community: „It gives me hope”

January 12th, 2026… that was the day Anthem was supposed to officially disappear. EA shut down the servers, bringing an end to the game’s pretty rocky run. Everyone was basically logging in for one last time, saying goodbye to flying around in their Javelins, but I, like a lot of fans inspired by the ‘Stop Killing Games’ movement, just couldn’t accept it. While the gameplay isn’t perfectly smooth and some online features are still missing, simply getting the game to run online independently of EA’s servers is a significant achievement.

However, the creator points out that this is only the first step. He explained further in the video description:

This is an early version created as part of my research and testing. It doesn’t reflect how far along the server revival project actually is.

Despite being a short tech demo released only a few days after the game ended, it’s surprisingly well done.
