Famke Janssen believes the James Bond films would be improved by including more female villains. The actress, who played a memorable Bond adversary in 1995, recently expressed her hope for the upcoming 26th installment and future films to feature more female antagonists for the iconic British spy.
The actress, speaking to , expressed her desire to see more female villains, praising the compelling characters that have been featured in the franchise over its 60-year run.
She added that she was eager to see what the filmmakers would do next, noting their history of successfully adapting to stay current. She was particularly excited to find out who would be cast as James Bond and other characters, what the plot would be, and where they would film the movie.
No matter where James Bond’s adventures lead him next, actress Anya Janssen offers straightforward advice to the women playing Bond’s allies, enemies, or any role in between: simply be yourself.
When asked what advice she had for the new actresses joining the film series, Janssen said she hoped they wouldn’t focus too much on past performers or the challenges of the role. She expressed her wish that they’d be true to themselves, and she’s confident they’ll be fantastic to watch.
The Upcoming Film’s Cast Has Already Sparked Rumors
I’m so excited to see what Amazon MGM Studios does with the next Bond film – it’ll be the 26th installment, and the first under their ownership after acquiring the franchise for around $20 million. It’s already got me buzzing that there’s talk of Sydney Sweeney possibly being involved! I’m eagerly waiting to find out who else will be joining the cast.
Last month, while talking about her new movie, Christy, Sydney Sweeney hinted at potentially becoming the next Bond girl. She said she’d be open to the idea, but it would depend on how good the script was.
When asked about the rumors, the actress hesitated for about seven seconds before responding with a playful “I don’t know.” She admitted she’s a big fan of the franchise and is eager to see how it develops, jokingly suggesting she’d rather play James Bond.
It seems actor Tom Hardy’s hopes of becoming the next James Bond are fading. Reports surfaced in September that producers are casting a male actor from the UK for the role, putting an end to rumors that 007 might be reimagined as a female character. The film’s director is also searching for a new leading man to take on the iconic part.
GoldenEye is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
