Exciting news for fans of Family Guy! Stewie Griffin will star in his own new spinoff series.
Deadline reports that Fox has picked up two seasons of Stewie, a new spin-off series based on the popular Family Guy character, the mischievous and brilliant baby. The number of episodes per season hasn’t been announced yet.
The new series follows Stewie as he’s forced to attend a different preschool after being expelled from his previous one. He eventually starts to connect with his classmates, and together they use Stewie’s inventions – including his time machine – to transform ordinary school days into wild and unpredictable adventures.
The new animated series comes from Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy. He’ll be an executive producer and continue to voice the character Stewie. MacFarlane created Stewie with Kirk Butler, a longtime writer and producer on Family Guy, who will oversee the show as showrunner.

You know, I was reading MacFarlane’s statement, and it was hilarious! He basically thanked Fox for letting him do the show, but then playfully said he’s ‘starting to pretend’ he’s working closely with them. It’s a funny way of acknowledging the usual studio dynamics, if you ask me!
A second spin-off series from Family Guy, called Stewie, is planned to debut on Fox during the 2027-2028 television season. New episodes will then be available to stream on Hulu the very next day.
Besides Stewie, Seth MacFarlane is also working on an animated series based on his movie Ted, which is currently being made for Peacock.
The new animated series picks up after the stories told in the Ted movies. Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, and Jessica Barth will all return to voice their characters in animated form, and Seth MacFarlane will once again be the voice of Ted, the talking teddy bear.
Fan-Favorite Characters Who Deserve Spinoffs

Morpheus (The Matrix)
Although The Matrix has had a huge impact on popular culture and there’s been talk for years, a prequel exploring Morpheus’s younger years never actually happened. That’s disappointing, because Morpheus is one of the most intriguing and enigmatic characters in the series, and a story about how he became a leader in the fight against the machines would be naturally captivating.

Hector Barbossa (Pirates of the Caribbean)
Captain Hector Barbossa is a fan favorite in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Geoffrey Rush brilliantly portrays this complex character who starts as a villain but becomes a sort of hero. People love Barbossa because he’s clever, funny, and charming, even when he’s mischievous. A prequel showing his early life – how he became a pirate, gained command of a ship, found love, and first met Jack Sparrow – would be incredibly exciting.

O-Ren Ishii (Kill Bill)
O-Ren Ishii’s difficult past is shown in a memorable animated sequence in Kill Bill Vol. 1, revealing the deaths of her parents and her pursuit of revenge against Boss Matsumoto. Lucy Liu’s portrayal of O-Ren makes her one of the most compelling characters in Kill Bill, and many fans are eager to learn more about her life. They’re particularly interested in seeing how she became a renowned assassin, rose to power within the Yakuza, and trained the dangerous schoolgirl assassin Gogo Yubari.

Short Round (Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom)
It’s shocking that fans haven’t gotten a spin-off movie starring Short Round from Indiana Jones, especially with Ke Huy Quan’s recent success in Hollywood. The character, who first appeared in Temple of Doom in 1984, is incredibly memorable. It would be great to see Indy’s former protégé – now in his 50s, but still agile – have his own adventures, perhaps as a charming and witty thief recovering lost treasures or rescuing children around the globe, set in the 1970s.

Alice Cullen (The Twilight Saga)
The Twilight movies feature a lot of characters, particularly the Cullen family, who all have compelling histories that could be explored further. Many fans, including actress Ashley Greene, would love to see a prequel focusing on Alice Cullen’s past. The films only briefly touched on the difficult experiences that shaped her – like being in an asylum, meeting Jasper, and being hunted by the dangerous vampire James – making a prequel series or movie about her a natural fit.

Officer Michaels and Officer Slater (Superbad)
The movie Superbad is full of hilarious characters, and two minor police officers, Michaels and Slater, played by Seth Rogen and Bill Hader, were particularly scene-stealing. It’s surprising it’s taken nearly 20 years, but a spin-off comedy focusing on these two bumbling, corrupt, and outrageous cops – who love to stir up trouble with teenagers and crash parties – feels long overdue.

Padmé Amidala (Star Wars)
As a huge Star Wars fan, it really bugs me that we’ve gotten so many spinoffs but still haven’t had a movie or series dedicated to Padmé Amidala. I mean, she’s arguably one of the most important characters in the whole saga! She’s such a complex and fascinating person, and honestly, her story feels way bigger than what we see in the prequels. The books by E.K. Johnston really flesh her out, and there’s so much potential there – from her becoming Queen of Naboo to her strong bond with her handmaidens and everything she did during the Clone Wars. We need to see those stories adapted for the screen!

Aragorn (The Lord of the Rings)
Considering the popularity of The Hobbit films and The Rings of Power series, it’s surprising Aragorn hasn’t gotten his own prequel or spinoff. A prequel focusing on his early life as a Ranger and his romantic relationship with Arwen would be especially appealing to fans.

Jonathan Carnahan (The Mummy)
The Mummy movies from the 1990s and 2000s are full of memorable characters, beyond just the heroes Rick O’Connell (Brendan Fraser) and Evie Carnahan (Rachel Weisz). Arnold Vosloo is fantastic as the villain Imhotep, and Oded Fehr creates a compelling, enigmatic Ardeth Bay. However, John Hannah’s Jonathan Carnahan consistently provides some of the funniest moments in the series. He’s a charming and loyal goofball, and with Hannah’s natural talent, he could easily star in his own comedic adventure. Picture Jonathan using his wit to navigate the world of stolen artifacts, trading playful banter with a clever partner as they pursue the same treasures.

Severus Snape (Harry Potter)
Many fans believe Severus Snape, the complex and often misunderstood wizard from the original Harry Potter films, deserves his own prequel. His early life – including his childhood, difficult relationship with the Marauders (James Potter, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, and Remus Lupin), and his friendship with Lily Evans – took place during fascinating times in the wizarding world that haven’t been fully explored. A prequel could also delve into his early connection with Albus Dumbledore, how he became a Death Eater, and his eventual role as a spy.
