F1: The Movie Races Onto Blu-Ray On October 7

Formula One racing has quickly gained a large following in the US, boosted by shows like the Netflix series *Drive to Survive*. It was natural for the sport to make its way into a major movie, and *F1: The Movie*, starring Brad Pitt, was a big success when it came out earlier this year. You can now reserve the 4K steelbook Blu-ray version for $38 before its October 7th release, and standard 4K and Blu-ray editions are also available for preorder.

Okay, so I just heard about this new movie, *F1: The Movie*, directed by the guy who did *Top Gun: Maverick*, and it looks pretty cool. It’s about this driver, Sonny Hayes – Brad Pitt plays him – who was a big deal in Formula 1 back in the ’90s, but he had a bad crash and basically walked away. He’s been drifting around racing ever since. Now, his old teammate, Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), wants him to join his F1 team, and it sounds like Sonny’s taking the chance to prove he still has what it takes to compete at the top level. I’m definitely checking this one out!

With just a few races remaining, the APXGP team is deeply in debt, and their new driver, Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), clashes with the more experienced Hayes. They have very different approaches to racing. If the team wants to survive financially and finish the season, both drivers will need to learn to cooperate and work together.

F1: The Movie was a huge success at the box office, earning over $623 million worldwide. Reviewers liked the strong cast and how realistic the movie felt – it was actually filmed during the 2023 and 2024 Formula 1 seasons! This allowed real F1 drivers, including champions Max Verstappen, Fernando Alonso, and Lewis Hamilton, to appear in the film. To make it even more genuine, real F1 commentators Martin Brundle and David Croft provided the race commentary, which was all filmed at actual Grand Prix locations.

What truly sets *F1: The Movie* apart is its ability to immerse you in the driver’s experience. Director Neils Kosinski and cinematographer Claudio Miranda deliver breathtaking in-car shots, and the actors convincingly portray the intense pressure and danger of each race. Adding to the film’s impact is Hans Zimmer’s score, which perfectly captures the complex and high-tech world of Formula One.

Collectors of Blu-ray discs have several exciting releases to anticipate this year. Arrow Video will release a limited edition 4K Blu-ray of *The Mask* on November 11, and they’re also bringing restored versions of *Spawn*, *In the Mouth of Madness*, and the *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trilogy* (in 4K) throughout the year. Fans of Stephen King can preorder a special *The Long Walk* Steelbook exclusively from Amazon for $35. Plus, the 50th anniversary of the classic musical *Rocky Horror Picture Show* will be celebrated with a new 4K steelbook release on October 7.
