‘F–k Yes’: Keanu Reeves Shares Funny Take On The Only Three Movies Of His That He’ll Watch

Keanu Reeves is known for his incredible roles that fans love to rewatch. From the comedic time travels with his friend in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, to the intense action of the John Wick films and the groundbreaking bullet-dodging in The Matrix, he’s delivered many memorable performances. Surprisingly, he recently revealed he’d only watch three of his own movies – and his choices are quite unique!

It’s common for actors and actresses to avoid rewatching their own films. Keira Knightley only watches each of her movies once, and Leonardo DiCaprio almost never revisits his work, except for The Aviator. Keanu Reeves shared a humorous perspective on the few classic performances he would watch during a talk at The New Yorker Festival, as reported by People.

I don’t really sit down and choose a movie. It’s more like I’m doing something else – browsing or just moving around – and I’ll spot something good on, like ‘Oh, Point Break is on!’ or ‘The Matrix? Awesome!’ But I haven’t actually made a point of starting one recently.

I understand what Keanu Reeves was saying. He doesn’t usually choose to watch his own films, but he’ll happily watch if he comes across one on TV. Given that he’s starred in four John Wick movies and the Ballerina spin-off, I was a little surprised he didn’t mention that franchise being something he’d stumble upon while flipping through channels.

His choice of top three movies is understandable. The action film Point Break (available on Peacock) was a turning point for the Canadian actor. Interestingly, director Kathryn Bigelow had to advocate for Keanu Reeves to star in the movie, as he was primarily known for comedies at the time. Fortunately, Point Break established him as a major action star.

Keanu Reeves, like everyone else, recognizes the lasting impact of The Matrix films. Last year, on the movies’ 25th anniversary, he shared that being a part of them “changed my life,” both in terms of their place in popular culture and the positive effect they’ve had on viewers. He even donated a significant portion of his earnings from The Matrix to cancer research, demonstrating a wonderful commitment to giving back and using his platform for good. It’s admirable how Reeves uses his success to help others.

Keanu Reeves admits to only rewatching a few of his own movies – surprisingly, not even The Matrix Revolutions – but it’s understandable given how great he is in all of them. It’s no surprise that Point Break and The Matrix are among the films he enjoys revisiting, as they were key to building his Hollywood career.

Okay, folks, you absolutely need to see Keanu Reeves in his new film, Good Fortune, which is hitting theaters now. And if you happen to be in New York City, you’re in for a treat! He’s back on stage with Alex Winter, his old Bill and Ted buddy, in a production of Waiting For Godot at the Hudson Theatre. Trust me, it’s a fantastic double dose of Keanu and Alex!
