Enthusiasts of CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher series will soon have another book to add to their collection, as a new hardcover volume showcasing the artwork of Gwent is now up for pre-order before its July release. Similar to the first book, Gwent: Art of the Witcher Card Game Volume 2 is being published by Dark Horse and it boasts hundreds of pieces of art from The Witcher card game. Priced at $50, this 248-page book delves into eight of Gwent’s expansions and includes quotes and annotations from developers and artists at CDPR.
This method provides a wealth of understanding about the creation process behind Gwent’s beautifully designed cards, as Dark Horse describes it as a tribute to the card game itself. CDPR, however, has been gradually reducing their focus on Gwent since last year and plans to retire the game by the end of 2024, with Project Gwentfinity taking its place instead. There are hints that Gwent may resurface in the upcoming Witcher 4 title as well.
Introduced in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the card game quickly gained popularity and was soon developed into a separate game, officially released in 2018. If you haven’t played it yet, you can grab the first Gwent hardcover art book for $40 at Barnes & Noble right now.
In the realm of graphic novels, Dark Horse Comics has published some outstanding Witcher books. These works cater to different preferences for Witcher media, offering visually stunning stories that are either inspired by the video games or continue the narrative from the original novels penned by Andrzej Sapkowski.
