Jasmin Savoy Brown is heading back to Woodsboro.
It’s my exclusive announcement that Mindy Meeks-Martin, portrayed by Brown, will be back for “Scream 7.” Joining her is Mason Gooding, taking on the role of her brother Chad, in the upcoming chapter of this cherished horror series.
Mindy is the first queer character in the franchise.
As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the filming of this exciting project is underway in Wilmington, N.C. I find myself in the director’s chair, following the visionary Kevin Williamson’s lead. The legendary “Scream” stars Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox are back, reprising their roles as Sidney Prescott and Gale Weathers respectively. And here’s a juicy tidbit: Joel McHale has joined our cast, taking on the role of Sidney’s husband in the story. Can’t wait to see this unfold on the silver screen!
I’m excited to share that I’ll be part of the team bringing “Scream 7” to the big screen on February 27, 2026! This project is being produced by Spyglass Media, with Paramount Pictures handling distribution.
On January 9th, Williamson shared a backstage photo on Instagram as filming began, expressing his excitement despite being asked not to talk about Scream. He wrote, “I find it hard to keep such an amazing day to myself, so I hope Spyglass Media Group and Paramount Pictures will understand. Today was incredible! I worked with an incredible cast and crew who were absolutely fantastic. They were at their best, supporting me every step of the way. I am truly grateful for this opportunity and think about Wes Craven throughout it all. His influence on my life and career is immeasurable. Can’t wait for tomorrow!
Additionally, the newcomers joining the cast are Isabel May portraying Sidney’s daughter, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and Anna Camp.
As a passionate film enthusiast, I’ve been captivated by the “Scream” horror franchise for quite some time now. This franchise, which started with the iconic 1996 movie, has grown to include four feature films: “Scream,” “Scream 2,” “Scream 3,” and “Scream 4,” all directed by the legendary Wes Craven. After a brief hiatus, the franchise was reintroduced with the fifth installment in 2022. The latest addition to this chilling saga, “Scream VI,” premiered globally in theaters in March 2023, and it’s breaking records! It currently holds the title for the highest domestic box office gross in the franchise (over $108 million), surpassing the original “Scream.” To date, it has earned more than $169 million worldwide.
Recently, Brown debuted a fresh daily podcast targeted at the LGBTQ+ community called “Today in Queer” and will make an appearance in the third season of the Emmy-nominated Showtime series “Yellowjackets” starting February. Prior to this, she was featured on ABC’s “For The People” and HBO’s “The Leftovers.
Brown is represented by CAA, Anonymous Content and Narrative PR.
