Danny Mallin, previously known for hosting Rate My Takeaway, is back on YouTube with a new channel after a difficult breakup with the team behind his original channel.
I remember discovering Rate My Takeaway back in 2020 – it was exactly what it sounded like, a channel where they’d check out local takeout places and give their honest opinions. It blew up pretty quickly and has become massively popular here in the UK, which isn’t surprising – who doesn’t love a good takeaway review?
So, it was a shock when Danny Mallin, the host, announced he was leaving the channel back in September. Apparently, even though he was the main guy everyone saw, he felt like he wasn’t really treated as an equal partner in the whole operation. It’s a bummer, honestly.
He explained that the understanding was always a three-way split, but from the beginning, he’s had difficulty making that happen. He consistently faces issues with access to necessary resources or the ability to complete certain tasks.
Danny mentioned potential legal issues stemming from the situation, and described leaving the channel as a very difficult choice. He continues to create content on YouTube with his family channel, ‘Mr and Mrs Yorkshire.’ Recently, Mallin has started making his eating videos again after a challenging few months.

Danny from Rate My Takeaway returns with new YouTube channel
Danny’s new show, Danny Vs Food, features him revisiting his classic setup: eating takeaway meals outdoors – no matter the weather – with his familiar folding table and chair.
So, I just announced I’m starting my own channel! I said in the video – filmed in Liverpool, by the way – that this is my space. I’m super excited to be doing this with the team, especially my cameraman, Sam. We’re all close and work great together, but yeah, this channel is all me!
I’ll be showing you what I get up to while traveling – things like grabbing quick meals, and occasionally eating at a restaurant. It’ll mostly just be me, a table, and a chair, often outdoors even when it’s raining, like it is right now.
Danny says the channel, which quickly gained over 23,000 subscribers, will release around two videos every week.
“Up and down the country, all around the world, we’re going to be smashing it,” he added.
