Warning! This article contains spoilers for Wonder Man season 1.
The new Marvel show, Wonder Man, has finished its season, and viewers are now asking if it will be renewed for another. Marvel’s TV shows on Disney+ have had mixed success. While WandaVision and Loki were very popular, shows like Secret Invasion didn’t generate as much excitement.
The situation with the upcoming Daredevil reboot, along with other factors, caused a major creative shift in how Marvel makes TV shows. This led to Wonder Man, a series that stands out from typical MCU projects. Critics have noted that Wonder Man is different, focusing more on its characters and the world of acting than on traditional superhero action.
The success of Wonder Man is clear from its positive reception on Rotten Tomatoes. Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, the show stands out from all other Marvel Cinematic Universe series with its original story, format, and overall feel.
Even though Wonder Man takes some unexpected turns, it remains a captivating show. By the end of episode 8, viewers will likely be eager to find out what’s next for the series. Here’s a complete rundown of everything we know about Wonder Man season 2, including its chances of happening and potential details about the cast and plot.

As of January 27, 2026, Disney+ hasn’t announced whether the show Wonder Man will return for a second season. Wonder Man was produced under Marvel’s Spotlight label, meaning it prioritizes character development and relatable, everyday issues, with superpowers and connections to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe taking a backseat.
The show was originally planned as a single season. With many Marvel shows, this meant the characters could reappear in other movies and series within the Marvel Universe. Currently, a second season of Wonder Man isn’t being made, but that doesn’t rule out the possibility in the future.
Brad Winderbaum, head of television at Marvel Studios, told Entertainment Weekly that the Wonder Man series was created during a transition period for Marvel, falling somewhere between their old and new production structures.
When the initial shows were conceived, they were designed as one-season stories. That created a bit of a hurdle when it came to thinking about follow-up seasons. But some projects ended up in a weird spot, and I’d definitely put Wonder Man in that category. Basically, whether or not we get a Season 2 really depends on the audience – if enough people tune in, it could happen.
Winderbaum explained that Wonder Man is structured so a single season could still feel like a complete story. However, he believes viewers will likely be eager to see more of Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery, and he’s hoping for a second season if the first one does well. A successful first season could lead to Wonder Man being renewed.
How Wonder Man Season 1’s Ending Sets Up A Season 2
If Wonder Man gets a second season, the ending of season one hints at what might happen next. Season one mainly revolves around Trevor Slattery being forced by the Department of Damage Control to investigate Simon Williams and uncover the secrets of his unique ionic abilities.
The first season of Wonder Man ends with Trevor pretending to be the Mandarin to protect Simon, which results in his arrest by the DODC. Simon then rescues Trevor from prison, demonstrating improved control over his abilities. This sets the stage for a potential second season of Wonder Man.
At the end of Wonder Man season one, Simon Williams’ powers significantly increased, and he became a direct target for the DODC, who continued to try and capture him. Coupled with director Von Kovak hinting at a second season within the show, this sets the stage for more stories featuring Wonder Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Wonder Man Season 2 Cast Details
If Wonder Man gets a second season, most of the original cast will probably be back. This definitely includes Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams/Wonder Man. Ben Kingsley will likely return as Trevor Slattery too, since the first season showed a strong connection between him and Simon.
Let’s talk about who’s likely to cause trouble – and who’ll be helping our heroes – in the next season. Arian Moayed really nailed the role of P. Cleary, the DODC agent, as a key antagonist in season one, and I fully expect him to return and stir things up. On the support side, I’m predicting we’ll see Janelle, played by X Mayo, back as Simon’s friend and agent. And it wouldn’t be complete without Simon’s family – Shola Adewusi as his mother, Martha, and Demetrius Grosse as his brother, Eric – both of whom I anticipate will play significant roles again.
Zlatko Burić is expected to return as Von Kovak in season 2 of Wonder Man. Von Kovak is the director of the in-universe Wonder Man reboot that Simon is acting in. Because Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is a key part of Wonder Man, we might see characters from those films appear in future seasons.
Will Wonder Man Become An Avenger In The MCU?
With every new character joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans immediately wonder if they’ll become an Avenger. Looking at the story of Wonder Man so far, it seems unlikely that Simon Williams will join the team.
Beyond a cameo by a character from Iron Man 3 and a few vague connections to Shang-Chi, Wonder Man mostly stands on its own. It doesn’t rely much on the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe, and its portrayal of superpowers is understated. This makes it seem unlikely that the main character, Simon Williams, would easily fit into a large-scale team-up like The Avengers.
As a huge MCU fan, I’m still really excited about what they can do. The first season of Wonder Man left Simon in a good place, finally getting a handle on his abilities, so I’m hoping season two will really let him embrace the superhero side of things. Plus, with Trevor around, Simon’s connected to a lot of characters who have ties to Iron Man and even Shang-Chi, who’s becoming a major Avenger – that opens up so many possibilities!
If a second season of Wonder Man is made, it could establish Simon Williams as a more prominent hero within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, it would be a loss if the show lost the qualities that made it stand out. Therefore, keeping the character separate from the larger MCU and the Avengers might be a good strategy for the future of Wonder Man.
