The reunion still went off without a hitch, with Van Der Beek’s children even joining the cast on stage to sing the show’s theme song. And for fans of the Joey and Pacey pairing, Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes shared a sweet moment, holding hands during the sing-along as they reunited as co-stars.

This event was organized with support from the F Cancer organization and in honor of James Van Der Beek, who announced his stage 3 colorectal cancer diagnosis earlier this year. Sadly, Van Der Beek couldn’t attend, making the reunion especially poignant. In a video message played before the reading, he expressed his disappointment at missing the chance to see his castmates in person and thanked everyone for their support, calling the fans “the best in the world,” according to US Weekly.
