Zodiac

Okay, so I just saw Gerry Dee’s new Netflix special, “Funny You Should Say That,” which dropped on November 18th, 2025. He’s a really dry, observational comedian, and a lot of his material comes from his time as a teacher – seriously, some of those stories are wild. 15 Most Random Actors Who Have Somehow Gotten Their Own Action Figures

Kenneth Branagh (Wild Wild West)

It’s rare for actors playing knights to get their own action figures, but Kenneth Branagh is an exception! He received a figure as part of the toy line for the movie Wild Wild West, where he played the villain Dr. Loveless. The character uses a unique steam-powered wheelchair – or sometimes spider-like legs – for mobility. While the figure might not be a perfect likeness, it definitely captures the outlandish costume and makeup Branagh wore in the film.

Bradley Cooper (The A-Team)

Bradley Cooper has been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for years, providing the voice of Rocket Raccoon in the Guardians of the Galaxy films. However, the toys available reflect the character he plays – a raccoon! If you’re looking for a toy that actually resembles Bradley Cooper himself, you’ll need to track down one from the 2010 movie The A-Team. That’s where you can also find figures of Liam Neeson, Sharlto Copley, and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Hopefully, those figures have better hairlines than this one—it looks like someone deliberately tried to make it unflattering!

Jane Curtain (Coneheads)

Believe it or not, there’s a line of action figures based on the Coneheads movie, which came out many years after the original TV show! Jane Curtin, a famous cast member from Saturday Night Live, even got two figures made of her character: one in her alien costume and another in everyday clothes. Apparently, these toys were a huge hit in France, which is supposedly the Coneheads’ home planet!

Paul Giamatti (Planet of the Apes)

In the toy industry, “toyetic” describes characters that are visually striking and easily translated into action figures. Even poorly received movies, like Tim Burton’s 2001 Planet of the Apes reboot, can be “toyetic.” The toys based on that film included figures of the human actors – Mark Wahlberg, Estella Warren, Helena Bonham Carter, and Tim Roth – but also a figure of Paul Giamatti, who played the villainous orangutan slave trader Limbo. Surprisingly, action figures of this character were actually sold to children.

Hugh Grant (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves)

Growing up, I always wished there had been an action figure of Hugh Grant like the one from the movie Nine Months. It took until 2023 for that to finally happen, with a figure based on his role in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. While the figure looks pretty accurate, Grant himself wasn’t a fan. He jokingly complained on The Late Late Show that it made him look like he was wearing a large blue diaper and even suggested they burn it! That’s a harsh critique.

Werner Herzog (The Mandalorian)

I actually have this Werner Herzog action figure! I got it on sale a couple of years ago and couldn’t resist—the idea of owning a little figure based on his appearance in the first season of The Mandalorian was too fun. Now it sits on my shelf, and I like to imagine it silently judging all my Spider-Man toys. I always picture it saying something like, “Spider-Man, you know nothing of the deep chaos hidden beneath the surface of everyday life. There’s no real power, no true responsibility, just the pain of existence, endlessly echoing through time.”

Wayne Knight (Jurassic Park)

Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park didn’t just start a successful movie series; it also sparked a line of dinosaur toys that has been consistently popular ever since. While today’s toys look incredibly realistic, the first ones released in 1993 weren’t quite as impressive. For example, the action figure of Wayne Knight (best known as Newman!) depicted a stern-looking man in a green turtleneck, sunglasses, and a gun holster. This is a funny contrast to the iconic scene in Jurassic Park where Dennis Nedry, frustrated with everything, armed himself and began shooting at the raptors – a truly memorable moment in the film.

Barry Pepper (Battlefield Earth)

Believe it or not, Battlefield Earth actually had action figures made of its characters! It makes sense – kids enjoy playing with the iconic figures from the movie, like the villainous alien Psychlos, Terl and Ker. Of course, a hero was needed to fight them, so they created an action figure of Barry Pepper’s character, Johnny Goodboy Tyler, complete with long, flowing plastic hair, ready to save Earth.

Jean Reno (Godzilla)

The 1998 Godzilla movie didn’t have a huge number of famous actors – unless you consider Godzilla himself a star, which I do! Because of this, the movie’s toy line included figures of some lesser-known actors who probably wouldn’t have gotten action figures otherwise, like Matthew Broderick, Hank Azaria, and Jean Reno. Looking at this figure, would you be able to guess which actor it’s supposed to be? It really captures Jean Reno’s look from that time!

Denise Richards (Starship Troopers)

I don’t want to criticize other parents, but if my kids asked to watch Starship Troopers – a very violent and mature movie – I’d immediately say no. It’s just not suitable for children.

However, the Galoob company actually made Starship Troopers toys! This includes a figure of Denise Richards’ character, Carmen Ibanez. And yes, there’s also a Jake Busey action figure available.

Adam Sandler (Little Nicky)

Adam Sandler is a major movie star known for creating much of his own content. Unlike many actors who appear in lots of superhero or action films – the usual source of action figures – Sandler rarely participates in those genres. However, McFarlane Toys was so keen to work with Sandler in the early 2000s that they made several toys based on his poorly received film, Little Nicky. The line included figures of Kevin Nealon, Robert Smigel, and two different Sandler characters. The most memorable of these is arguably the “action” figure of Nicky simply lying on a radiator – perfect for imaginative naptime play!

Talia Shire (Rocky)

Jakks Pacific created a surprisingly large collection of toys based on the Rocky movies, featuring characters from all six films. The lineup is unique, including figures of people like Brent Musburger and Mike Tyson, and even a humorous addition – a large piece of beef called “The Meat.” Of course, Talia Shire’s character, Adrian, was also included, as she’s essential to any complete Rocky collection. However, her action figure is a bit of a surprise – she looks fierce and ready to fight, which is quite different from her typically gentle and reserved personality, especially in the first movie. It almost looks like she’s preparing to take on Apollo Creed herself!

Paul Sorvino (Dick Tracy)

The Dick Tracy movie action figures are notable for featuring so many recognizable character actors. Beyond the figures of Dick Tracy (Warren Beatty) and Big Boy (Al Pacino), the line included characters like Flattop (William Forsythe), Pruneface (R.G. Armstrong), Sam Catchem (Seymour Cassel), Mumbles (Dustin Hoffman), and Lips Manlis (Paul Sorvino). As a nod to the character’s fate in the film, the Lips Manlis figure even came with a pair of cement shoes.

Christopher Walken (Batman Returns)

It’s not unusual for characters from superhero movies to get action figures, but it’s still surprising to see one made of Christopher Walken’s character, Max Shreck, from Batman Returns. Honestly, I’d be even more thrilled if someone made a figure of his character from The Country Bears – that would be a dream come true!

Marlon Wayans (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra)

The G.I. Joe films started with toys, so it’s not surprising they then created new toys based on the movies themselves. Several actors from the films, including Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis, Rachel Nichols, Sienna Miller, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Christopher Eccleston, and Marlon Wayans (who played Ripcord), even got their own action figures. Wayans’ figure is one of the better ones, but Bruce Willis’ is particularly impressive – it really captures his look from the later Die Hard movies, which is quite funny.
