Return to Silent Hill

The upcoming game Return will be inspired by the story of Silent Hill 2, which was recently remade for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S to great acclaim. The game will center around James, who finds himself compelled to revisit the quiet town of Silent Hill after his wife passes away.

The movie Return to Silent Hill will be in theaters on January 23, 2026, featuring Jeremy Irvine and Hannah Emily Anderson.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Following the huge success of the first Super Mario Bros. movie in 2023 – which earned over $1 billion – a new installment is coming to theaters next April. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is a collaboration between Universal’s Illumination Entertainment and Nintendo.

The next Mario movie, coming out in 2026, will again star Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, all working to keep the Mushroom Kingdom safe. This time, they’ll be joined by a new character, Rosalina (voiced by Brie Larson), and Bowser’s son, Bowser Jr. (voiced by Benny Safdie), sending their adventure into outer space.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is predicted to be a major hit when it releases in theaters on April 4, 2026.

Mortal Kombat 2

Following the success of Illumination’s Mario movie, another video game sequel is coming to theaters – but this one is significantly more violent. Mortal Kombat 2 is a live-action adaptation of the popular fighting game series from NetherRealm.

The upcoming film, MK2, continues the story from the 2021 movie. It will feature Johnny Cage (played by Karl Urban), a funny and confident movie star from Earth, who must compete in a fighting tournament across dimensions to protect his world.

Originally intended to come out last fall, Mortal Kombat 2 has been delayed until May 8, 2026.

Resident Evil

Get ready for a new wave of video game movies directed by visionary filmmakers – and it’s starting with next year’s Resident Evil film. This adaptation of Capcom’s popular survival horror series will be directed by Zach Cregger, the director behind the acclaimed horror films Barbarian and Weapons, and a rising star in the genre.

Street Fighter fans have wanted a great movie adaptation of the popular fighting game for almost thirty years. Previous attempts in the 1990s and a somewhat controversial blockbuster in 2009 didn’t quite satisfy them, but the 2026 Street Fighter film seems promising.

Based on the hugely popular video game series that helped make fighting games famous, Street Fighter will tell the story of skilled martial artists from around the globe as they battle to be crowned the world’s best.

The new movie, scheduled for release on October 16, 2026, promises a fresh and inventive approach to the series. It’s directed by Kitao Sakurai, known for his work on the boundary-pushing comedy show, The Eric Andre Show.

The Angry Birds Movie 3

Before the upcoming Sonic 4 movie, the next video game adaptation will be a new Angry Birds film. The third animated Angry Birds movie, starring Jason Sudeikis as Red, is scheduled for release in 2026.

Emma Myers, Keke Palmer, Lily James, and even Tim Robinson are all signed on – it’s a really great group of actors for this threequel, and I’m definitely curious to see what they bring to the characters.
