So, Stranger Things officially wrapped up its main story this week, but honestly, we all knew that wasn’t really the end. The Duffer brothers, the creators, just confirmed there’s even more in store for the Stranger Things universe than we thought! They weren’t willing to give up any details about what these new projects might be, which is frustrating, but it’s definitely given the fandom a whole lot more to obsess over and theorize about for months – maybe even years – to come. It’s exciting and a little maddening all at once!
Besides the already confirmed live-action spin-off and the animated series Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, the Duffer brothers hinted to Entertainment Weekly that they have another project in the works. Matt Duffer shared that…
We’re taking things one step at a time. Currently, everything we’ve discussed is what we’re working on. There’s also another exciting project we can’t reveal just yet, so I wasn’t entirely truthful. But the live-action spin-off is our primary focus right now. We have a specific vision for how the show – and the broader ‘Stranger Things’ world – can continue, and it’s quite different from how franchises like ‘Game of Thrones’ or ‘Star Wars’ have expanded. We’re approaching things in a unique way.
‘Stranger Things’ Is Moving on From Hawkins, Indiana

Netflix
The world of Stranger Things is growing beyond the original show, with comics, novels, and a stage play already available for fans. While the creators didn’t directly discuss a new project, mentioning Tales from ’85 and clarifying the existing spin-off as “live-action” has led to speculation about what this latest addition will be.
The creators have hinted that the play, Stranger Things: The First Shadow, and the book, Tales from ’85, will resolve unanswered questions about the show. They also plan to expand the show’s overall story in future seasons, as Ross Duffer explained.
We’re really pleased with ‘Tales from ’85’ and the play, but they’re essentially exploring the final, small pieces of the story we’ve already told in ‘Stranger Things.’ To keep the show going, we need to create a whole new set of stories and rules. Otherwise, we’ll just keep finding increasingly small and artificial connections to the past. Our aim is to completely expand the universe and do something fresh and unexpected.
Matt Duffer shared that it’s been incredibly enjoyable building entirely new characters and a unique story world from scratch. He described the process as exciting and hinted at more details to come, while jokingly acknowledging that Netflix’s publicity team was monitoring the conversation.

Fans are eager to learn more about these new spin-off shows, but also wonder when they’ll actually be released and if interest will remain high. Currently, only Tales from ’85 is scheduled to come out this year. Even though Stranger Things was incredibly popular, it took ten years to produce just five seasons, so these new projects could either launch a whole new series of stories or signal that the end of this universe is approaching.
