‘Euphoria’ Season 3 First Look: Zendaya Returns as Rue as Production Starts on Long-Delayed HBO Series

HBO has shared the first look at “Euphoria” Season 3. The image features Zendaya’s return as Rue.

Production for the much-anticipated third season of “Euphoria” has finally begun, marking a nearly three-year gap since the debut of Season 2. The majority of our main actors are reprising their roles, save for a few such as Barbie Ferreira who had previously announced they would not be returning.

Casey Bloys, head of HBO/Max, stated in November that the series is currently receiving a lot of focus due to producing some authentic film stars who are involved in multiple ventures. However, since we’re working on this season right now, things remain unchanged for us. The new season will consist of eight episodes.

The principal actors of “Euphoria” consist of Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Storm Reid, Alexa Demie, and Eric Dane. Regrettably, Angus Cloud, who gained prominence as Fezco, passed away at the age of 25 in July 2023.

Previously, according to EbMaster’s report, Sam Levinson, the show creator, had proposed ideas for the third season of the series to HBO towards the end of 2023 and beginning of 2024. These ideas included a time leap of five years and possible storylines involving Rue (Zendaya), such as her taking up work as a private investigator. However, HBO chose to postpone the series until it could be creatively aligned with the first two seasons.

Beyond its impressive reviews, “Euphoria” demonstrated significant potential as an awards frontrunner for HBO. The series has amassed 25 Emmy nominations and has taken home nine awards. Among these victories are two for Zendaya in the category of best actress in a drama and one for Colman Domingo as best guest actor in a drama. Additionally, Sam Levinson won a DGA award for his direction of Season 2’s episode “Stand Still Like the Hummingbird.
