As a gamer in 2025, I found myself caught up in an unexpected legal battle when my ex-housekeeper decided to take me to court over wrongful dismissal. She claimed that she was let go mere days after requesting time off for a hernia operation.

According to the lawsuit, it’s alleged that the employee experienced a hernia during her tenure with the Klein family, and on July 18, 2024, she was informed that surgery would be required to rectify this health issue.

The following day, I reached out to Hila Klein to inform her about the situation, expressing that I’d require about a month for recovery, yet I might be able to get back to work earlier if I felt well enough to do so.

On June 20th, the housekeeper mentioned having trouble punching in for work. A short while later, she learned that her job was being ended.

She learned that her job role was changing because there seemed to be an issue between her and the Klein family’s nanny, as mentioned by another staff member.

Ethan Klein denies firing housekeeper over medical leave request

Ethan Klein spoke about the issue in multiple long posts on his Instagram stories, stating that their housekeeper had been extremely impolite towards the nanny they’d employed for taking care of their two kids, whom Ethan and Hila share.

Klein repeatedly commented on her weight and questioned how it changed, he stated. He cautioned her multiple times, expecting the behavior to cease, but it did not. Despite his attempts to save the relationship, her actions were unacceptable.

Klein asserted that the allegations about her dismissal following a request for leave to undergo surgery were entirely false, implying she was attempting to extort a large sum of money from them.

On February 10, 2025, the YouTuber explained the housekeeper’s termination during a live broadcast, stating that he was left with no other option but to let her go.

To be clear, not taking action against her could potentially lead to problems as she was gradually making the workplace unpleasant,” he explained further.

As a game master, I made sure to provide my team member with a substantial parting gift when she left the company. It was important for me to show that I cared for her well-being, so I didn’t want her to find herself in a difficult situation without support.
