2025 will see the return of the Esports World Cup, reuniting numerous esports communities to battle it out for a staggering sum of money across various competitions. Below, find the details we’ve gathered on the EWC thus far.
2024 marked the inauguration of the first-ever Esports World Cup held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where a staggering $60 million in prize money was distributed across numerous esports genres such as Fighting Games (FGC), First-Person Shooters (FPS), Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas (MOBAs), and even sports games. Essentially, every significant game was represented there.
Preparing for an expanded scale in 2025, the EWC will return to span the entire summer once more. Below are the details that have been disclosed up to this point.

In addition to these, there are two more game announcements expected at the end of February.
Dates & schedule
The dates for most of the EWC tournaments have not yet been announced.
Just two events have been announced so far: “Counter-Strike 2” taking place from August 20th to the 24th, and “Chess” happening from July 31st to August 3rd.
Prize pool
This year, there’s currently no established prize money set aside for the Esports World Cup as a whole, or for many of the participating games.
Since CS2 has officially been unveiled, it’s clear that the prize pool will be increased to $1.25 million, which is an enhancement from the $1.05 million in 2024.
Similarly, in Chess’ first year at EWC, they will have a $1.5m prize pool.
As the initial Electronic Sports World Cup (EWC) tournament is set to begin around June or July, the countdown has begun, and we expect to hear more updates and clarifications on the schedule within the upcoming weeks.
