Escape From Duckov, A Parody Of Tarkov Featuring Ducks, Is Putting Up Huge Numbers On Steam

Escape from Duckov, a fun, top-down shooter inspired by Escape from Tarkov, is proving popular on Steam. Since its release on October 16th, the game – which features ducks – has quickly become a hit, selling over 500,000 copies.

The game is currently performing very well, ranking as the fourth best-selling title on Steam worldwide. Today, October 20th, it’s also the sixth most played game overall, with over 180,000 players online at the same time.

Developer Team Soda announced on Steam that they’re thrilled with how the weekend went, saying the whole team is excited and celebrating.

The developer assured users they’ll continue to improve updates to meet their needs.

Industry analyst Daniel Ahmad highlighted that the game Duckov was created by a very small team of just five people, making its success particularly noteworthy. It’s published by bilibili, a major Chinese company known for other games such as Magicraft, Core Keeper, and Warm Snow.

While launching, Team Soda discovered a problem with the Mac version of Duckov, causing some players to lose their saved games. They explained this happened due to a mistake on their side, apologized for the inconvenience, and provided instructions on how to fix the issue or get a refund.

For Mac players who have not yet experienced save loss:

  • Open your local save file folder: ~/Library/Application Support/TeamSoda/Duckov/
  • Copy save files and back them up to a safe location (e.g., Desktop or Cloud).
  • Start the game on Steam and wait for cloud sync to complete.
  • After sync is finished, return your backed-up save files to the original folder

For Mac players who have already lost save data:

I’m really bummed this cloud save issue happened, and I want to get it sorted out! The good news is, we can request a refund directly through Steam. When you do, just make sure to add a note saying ‘Save file loss due to cloud save issue’ and include a screenshot of the announcement they posted. Hopefully, that will get things moving!

Steam doesn’t always issue refunds, but if your request is denied, the Team Soda developers have offered a solution. They’re asking affected Mac players to email them a screenshot showing their SteamID and how long they’ve played, along with proof of purchase. You can find more information on the game’s Steam page.

Duckov is available now for $15.83 USD, but the price will go up 12% to $18 USD on October 30.
