The popular French series Call My Agent!, known for its witty look inside a talent agency and appearances by famous actors playing themselves, is being remade again. The show, which won an International Emmy Award, originally aired for four seasons between 2015 and 2020 and is now also being developed into a movie. Many well-known actors have made guest appearances, including Juliette Binoche, Christopher Lambert, Isabelle Huppert, Isabelle Adjani, Monica Bellucci, Sigourney Weaver, and Jean Reno.
According to Variety, Organic Media Group announced at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest that they’re creating a Chinese-language version of Call My Agent!. The show will center on the entertainment world in Taiwan, but they hope to attract viewers across the broader Chinese-speaking market. It will also be available to watch in the United States through Golden TV.
According to Steve Chicorel, co-founder and CEO of Organic Media Group, this involves bringing in prominent actors from Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Asian-American communities, and China to be part of the show.
The project is currently seeking funding and features producer Natacha Devillers, known for her work on Hector and the Search for Happiness and Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom. Joining her are writer Yang Jingxiang and director Wu Zhongtian, who previously collaborated on A Murderous Affair in Horizon Tower.
This is at least the 14th attempt to recreate the popular comedy series for an international audience. Besides a Latin American version with Eva Longoria producing, a Filipino adaptation called ‘Call My Manager’ has been announced, along with plans for versions in the Middle East and Malaysia.
The popular series Call My Agent! has been successfully remade in several countries. These adaptations include Ten Percent in Britain, Behind Every Star in South Korea, Menajerimi Ara in Türkiye, Call My Agent: Bollywood in India, Call My Agent – Italia in Italy, Call My Agent Berlin in Germany, Hubungi Agen Gue! in Indonesia, Mój agent in Poland, and Vytoč mého agenta in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
It’s understandable that this latest version of the series is focusing on Chinese markets worldwide instead of just Taiwan. The Chinese-language entertainment market has grown significantly in power and influence.
As a huge cinema fan, I’ve been blown away by what’s happening in the movie market this year. The animated film Ne Zha 2, which is in Mandarin, has become a massive success – it’s currently the highest-grossing movie of 2025 worldwide, taking in $2.2 billion! What’s even more incredible is that it’s the first film ever to make over $1 billion in a single country – China, in this case. It’s a truly historic achievement!
It’s still uncertain whether the new version of Call My Agent! will be released, but the show’s flexible format continues to be a major strength. Focusing on compelling characters and featuring exciting celebrity guests, the series has built a large and dedicated international audience over the past decade since its debut.
