Emma Stone’s New Best Actress Nomination Officially Makes Oscars History With 7 Nods

She’s once again shown she’s an exceptionally talented actor, and many consider her to be among the very best working today.

Emma Stone has won two Oscars for her roles in the 2016 film La La Land and the 2023 film Poor Things. She recently received another Oscar nomination for Best Actress, this time for her work in the 2025 film Bugonia. Bugonia earned a total of four nominations, including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Emma Stone has made history as the youngest woman to receive seven Oscar nominations. At 37, she’s been nominated for acting in Birdman, La La Land, The Favourite, Poor Things, and now Bugonia. She also received nominations as a producer for both Poor Things and Bugonia.

Emma Stone is the second-youngest person ever to receive seven Oscar nominations, following only Walt Disney who accomplished this in 1936 at age 34. Previously, Meryl Streep held the record for the youngest woman to reach seven nominations, achieving it in 1988 at age 38. Stone is also the first woman to be nominated both as an actress and a producer for the same film.

In 2020, Frances McDormand made history as the first woman to be nominated for both an acting and producing award for her work on Nomadland. She won Best Actress, while Chloé Zhao (again nominated this year for Hamnet) took home the award for Best Director, and Nomadland was named Best Picture.
