Emma Roberts is set to star in a new television series based on the popular 2009 romantic comedy, Bride Wars, which originally starred Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show will be a fresh take on the film and is being developed for Peacock. Sascha Rothchild, a co-executive producer on the series GLOW, is writing the adaptation, and Roberts is also expected to bring a new look to the project with some blue hair.
The show originally centered on two childhood friends in New York City who got engaged and unintentionally booked their weddings for the same day and venue. The updated version will have a completely new storyline, moving the setting to North Carolina. It will follow a wedding planner who relocates to a new town and immediately clashes with the established local wedding planner. The show’s description hints at a rivalry that grows into a bigger conflict involving friendship, the community, and romance—and fans are hoping that rivalry will blossom into a love story!
