Warning: This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Emily in Paris season 5.
Emily’s time in Rome during season 5 has come to an end, but she’s back in Paris and ready for new experiences in Emily in Paris. Despite a fantastic job offer leading marketing at House of Muratori and a wonderful relationship with Marcello in Italy, Emily realized Paris was her true home and decided to return, leaving her Italian life behind.
Emily isn’t the only familiar face back in Paris! Sylvie, Luc, and Julian have all returned to the main Savoir office, and they’ve been joined by a new partner, Princess Jane. Plus, both Gabriel and Alfie are still hoping to win over Emily and Mindy, which suggests the show will likely continue beyond season five.
Emily In Paris Has Not Been Officially Renewed For Season 6
Despite consistently ranking among Netflix’s most popular shows – with every season of Emily in Paris making the Top 10 – a renewal for season six hasn’t been announced yet. However, this is common practice for Netflix and doesn’t necessarily mean the show won’t return.
Netflix consistently renews Emily in Paris about a month after each new season is released. Season 4 was the only exception, as it was approved at the same time as season 3. Following this pattern, we can expect news about a potential season 6 renewal in January 2026.
The show’s success is almost guaranteed unless the new season is a complete failure. However, considering how good season 5 of Emily in Paris is, and the existing strong audience engagement – even those who enjoy watching it ironically – it’s likely to perform at least as well as, and possibly better than, previous seasons.
What Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos Has Said About Emily In Paris’s Future
While Netflix hasn’t officially announced a sixth season of Emily in Paris, CEO Ted Sarandos has suggested it’s likely to happen. During an October earnings call (as reported by NBC), Sarandos mentioned several popular shows returning in 2026, and Emily in Paris was among them.
Sarandos shared some insights into what Netflix has planned for 2026. He highlighted the return of several popular shows with new seasons, including Bridgerton, Beef, Emily in Paris, One Piece, Outer Banks, Virgin River, The Gentlemen, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Running Point, Ginny and Georgia, and Lupin.
The new season’s release timing is consistent with Emily in Paris‘s usual pattern – a new season every year, except for 2023 when filming was delayed by the writers’ strike. Netflix hasn’t officially announced a sixth season yet, but it seems very likely to happen soon.
Emily In Paris Season 6‘s Cast
Though Camille Razat, who played Camille, has left Emily in Paris, most of the original cast is expected to return for season 6. The only confirmed departure is Eugenio Franceschini, who played Marcello. Because Marcello and Emily recently broke up, it’s unlikely he’ll be back, but anything is possible.
Lily Collins will almost certainly reprise her role as Emily Cooper. We can also expect to see returning characters like Emily’s boss, Sylvie Grateau (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), and colleagues Julien (Samuel Arnold) and Luc (Bruno Gouery). Minnie Driver, who joined the show in season 5 as Princess Jane, the new partner who helped save Agence Grateau, is also likely to return.
Mindy Chen is caught in a complicated love life: she’s engaged to Nicolas ‘Nico’ de Léon, but she still has feelings for Alfie after their intense romance last season. Fans likely won’t be surprised to see all three of them appear in the next season of Emily in Paris.
Fans are especially looking forward to Gabriel’s (Lucas Bravo) likely return. While season four hinted at him trying to win Emily back from Marcello, he stepped back when he saw Emily happy with Marcello in Rome and didn’t appear much in season five. Now that Emily and Marcello have broken up, and Gabriel is aware of it, he’s expected to make a move for Emily in the next season.
Emily In Paris Season 6’s Story Details
The last scene of Emily in Paris showed Sylvie texting Gabriel about Emily’s new boyfriend. Gabriel, happily working as a chef on a yacht, quickly sent Emily a postcard asking her to meet him in Greece. This strongly suggests that season 6 of Emily in Paris will feature some episodes set in Greece as Emily and Gabriel explore what happens next in their relationship.
Emily probably won’t travel to the Mediterranean by herself. Mindy is planning her bachelorette party in Mykonos, Greece, and it’s likely Emily will join her. Meanwhile, Alfie clearly doesn’t think Mindy should marry Nico, so he might go to Greece as well, hoping to change her mind.
Agence Grateau will likely keep up its reputation for lavish parties and frequent crises, but Emily probably won’t be the one causing most of the problems this time. With the unpredictable Princess Jane now a partner, and her willingness to promote any brand that pays her, Sylvie and the team are sure to have their hands full.
Darren Starr, the creator of Emily in Paris, has said the show will continue “as long as Netflix wants it to.” However, most Netflix series don’t last more than six seasons. Whether Emily in Paris wraps up after a possible sixth season, or goes on for even longer, it seems likely we haven’t seen the last of Emily Cooper.
