The miniseries Love & Death, featuring Elizabeth Olsen and based on the real-life story of Candy Montgomery, is currently popular on Netflix. It first debuted on HBO Max in April 2023 and became available on Netflix on December 1, 2025.
During the week of December 1st to 7th, the series Love & Death was the eighth most popular show on Netflix in the United States. It came in after Sean Combs: The Reckoning, Stranger Things (seasons 5, 1, and 2), Matt Rife: Unwrapped, The Abandons, and The Beast in Me, but before Raw: 2025 and Stranger Things season 3.
Created by David E. Kelley, the series Love & Death features Elizabeth Olsen as Candy Montgomery, a Texas housewife in the 1970s. The show follows Candy’s affair with another member of her church, which tragically leads to a violent event and her subsequent trial.
I’m so excited about the cast of Love & Death! Of course, Elizabeth Olsen, who’s already an Emmy nominee from WandaVision, is starring, but they’ve also got Jesse Plemons – you might know him from Power of the Dog, Black Mirror, or Fargo, and he’s been nominated for both an Oscar and an Emmy! Plus, Lily Rabe from American Horror Story is in it, along with Patrick Fugit, Krysten Ritter (I loved her in Breaking Bad!), Tom Pelphrey who was amazing in Ozark and also an Emmy nominee, Elizabeth Marvel, and Keir Gilchrist. It’s a seriously talented group!
Critics generally liked Love & Death, giving it a 63% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Elizabeth Olsen’s performance was particularly praised, but some felt the show’s depiction of a true crime story wasn’t unique. Despite this, Jesse Plemons was nominated for an Emmy Award for his supporting role.
Several HBO shows, like Love & Death, Six Feet Under, Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Ballers, and Insecure, are currently available on Netflix. This is happening because Netflix recently made a deal to get content from Warner Bros., which owns HBO, and we can expect to see even more HBO shows added in the future.
