Fallout is returning for its second season on Prime Video later this month. Amazon is also planning a show based on the Wolfenstein game, and many fans are hoping to see a series based on The Elder Scrolls as well. Todd Howard, a producer on both Fallout and Elder Scrolls, hasn’t dismissed the idea of an Elder Scrolls show, but it’s not likely to happen in the near future.
In an interview with Eurogamer, Todd Howard didn’t dismiss the possibility of a future Elder Scrolls adaptation, but suggested Fallout was a better fit for a TV show because its themes align more strongly with the genre.
Howard added that while he didn’t anticipate the show’s huge impact on the Fallout franchise, its success does make him consider future possibilities. However, he doesn’t foresee any new Fallout television projects happening for at least ten years, and is comfortable saying ‘no’ to them for that long.
Howard explained that it took more than ten years to create a live-action Fallout series, with interest in a movie or show starting as early as 2008 after the release of Fallout 3. Regarding Bethesda’s live-action Wolfenstein series on Prime Video, Howard stated he couldn’t comment on it, and that any news would come directly from MachineGames, the studio behind the modern Wolfenstein games.
In a recent interview, Howard admitted he probably shouldn’t have mentioned The Elder Scrolls 6 back in 2018. He also confirmed that the game is still years away from release.
