A promising new open-world RPG is drawing comparisons to both Elden Ring and Valheim, and fans of either game should definitely keep an eye on it, particularly if you’re looking for a new game to play with friends. Elden Ring wasn’t just another entry in the popular ‘soulslike’ genre—it redefined it with its groundbreaking open-world design. It’s raised the bar for future games in the genre, changing how developers approach them.
Meanwhile, Valheim really raised the bar for survival RPGs. It took the familiar elements of the genre and added a fresh, enjoyable experience, especially when playing with friends, all set in a beautiful and popular Nordic-inspired world. Several new games have appeared since Valheim, and while they aren’t direct copies, they clearly take a lot of ideas from it.
Elden Ring Meets Valheim In Endalor
The RPG Mixes Souls Combat With Survival
I’m really excited about this new game called Endalor! It’s coming to Steam in Early Access later this year, and from what I’ve seen, it looks amazing. It’s an open-world survival RPG, and it’s giving me major Valheim vibes, but with a much darker, Elden Ringinspired feel. The combat looks really challenging, with some seriously intimidating enemies – they even remind me of some of the toughest bosses from Elden Ring*! I can’t wait to jump in and see what it’s all about.
Games like Valheim focus on surviving in a vast, open world. You’ll spend a lot of time exploring to gather materials so you can build and craft items, ultimately creating a home base.
You can experience this journey on your own or team up with up to three friends—which is helpful, considering how challenging the world of Endalor can be.
This New Open-World RPG Looks Incredible
Endalor Arrives Soon
Early looks at Endalor suggest it’s shaping up to be a fantastic open-world RPG. The game has a visual style similar to Valheim, but is set in a dark fantasy world that feels a lot like Elden Ring. Both crafting and combat appear smooth and well-developed.
We don’t know exactly when players will be able to start playing Endalor in its Early Access phase, as Diorite Games hasn’t announced a specific date. However, they’re aiming for a release sometime in the first three months of 2026, ideally before the end of March. The developers anticipate the RPG will then be in Early Access for about a year to a year and a half.
