Eddie Redmayne’s ‘The Day of the Jackal’ Renewed for Season 2 at Peacock and Sky

As a connoisseur of thrilling dramas and a keen observer of the small screen, I must say that the revival of “The Day of the Jackal” for a second season is an exciting development indeed! The series, with its captivating narrative and exceptional performances, has left me on the edge of my seat from the very first episode.


The original thriller series ‘The Day of the Jackal,’ featuring Eddie Redmayne on Peacock and Sky, has been given the green light for another exciting season!

The story revolves around the main character, Jackal (Redmayne), who’s likened to a chameleon due to his profession as a contract killer that takes on assignments for top dollar. As per the show’s summary, “Jackal performs hits for those willing to pay, but his latest victim leads him to face his most formidable adversary yet – a relentless British intelligence officer (Lashana Lynch). This officer embarks on a gripping chase, hot on Jackal’s heels across Europe, leaving chaos in her wake.

The movie titled ‘The Day of the Jackal’ was released on November 14th to both critical and financial success. It has been sold in nearly 200 countries worldwide. In his review for EbMaster, critic Aramide Tinubu described it as an extremely captivating drama. He further stated that the series is exceptionally well-crafted and richly detailed, making it a thrilling adventure right up until the very end.

The 10-episode series is currently airing, with the last episode set to premiere on Dec. 12.

Redmayne additionally takes on the role of an executive producer for “The Day of the Jackal,” teaming up with writer Ronan Bennett and director Brian Kirk. Other executive producers include Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant from Carnival Films, Sam Hoyle from Sky Studios, and Sue Naegle, with Frederick Forsyth serving as a consulting producer and Chris Hall handling the production as well.
