Eating Poop Is No Longer A Solid Strategy In Viral Steam Game Duckov

A new update for the popular Steam game, Escape from Duckov, has been released. It now includes features to prevent players from consuming… well, let’s just say unpleasant things.

For a while, players of this popular game – created by a small team of five and already purchased over a million times – could regain energy and hydration by… eating waste. While this quirky feature hasn’t been removed with the latest update, it’s now less helpful. Here’s what the update details say:

“Reduced the Energy and Hydration values provided by Poop.”

PC Gamer reported that some players in the game were actually eating in-game feces to regain energy and hydration. While this temporarily boosted their character, it also caused some poisoning. The tactic proved too effective, so the developers, Team Soda, adjusted things. Players can still collect and craft poop into a throwable weapon – appropriately named the ‘Poop Ball’.

Here are the complete patch notes for the Duckov update from October 23rd, as posted by Team Soda on Steam.

Analyst Daniel Ahmad highlighted that the game Duckov was created by just a five-person team, making its popularity even more remarkable. Published by the Chinese company BiliBili – known for games like Magicraft, Core Keeper, and Warm Snow – Duckov is a parody of the popular game Escape from Tarkov.

Duckov is currently available for $15.83, but the price will increase to $18 on October 30th. The game has become very popular on Steam, with over 250,000 people playing at the same time. You can also find it on the Epic Games Store, but it’s not available on consoles.
