EA’s Plans for Battlefield 6 Longevity Continue as it Poaches The Division Lead

The team behind Battlefield 6 is moving ahead with development despite the recent and sad loss of Vince Zampella, who died in a car accident last month. He was a highly respected leader within the studio.

Julian Gerighty, who led the creative direction for games like The Division and Star Wars Outlaws, has moved from Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment to Battlefield Studios. It’s currently unknown what his position will be at the new studio.

Julian Gerighty Starts New Adventure With Battlefield Team

Ubisoft announced on social media that Julian Gerighty is leaving The Division series, praising his dedication and contributions over the years. They stated that his impact will remain at the studio, and they plan to continue developing the world he helped create for players in the future.

Yannick Banchereau and Mathias Karlson, who previously worked on The Division, will continue to creatively lead The Division 2 and the upcoming The Division 3. Meanwhile, Magnus Jansen from Massive Entertainment will be heading up development on The Division 2: Survivors, according to VGC.

Massive Entertainment has assured fans that development of new content for The Division franchise is proceeding as planned. They confirmed that the core team behind the original games remains in place and is dedicated to delivering future installments, including updates for The Division 2, The Division 2: Survivors, The Division Resurgence, and The Division 3.

We’re sad to see him go, but his contributions will always be remembered here at Massive. We’ll keep building on the worlds he helped create and sharing them with our players for many years.

During the New Game+ Showcase 2026, Gerighty discussed The Division 3, predicting it will be as influential as the original Division game.

In a message on X (formerly Twitter), Jean-Christophe Gerighty announced he’s moving on to a new adventure. He said it’s time to step down from his role, but he’ll still be keeping an eye on things.
