DWTS Andy Richter Deserves a Trophy for His TikToks

Comedian Andy Richter and professional dancer Emma Slater may have their best shot at winning the mirrorball trophy on Dancing With The Stars thanks to TikTok. With Slater’s help, Richter joined the app, and their videos are quickly gaining them fans, even before the show began airing. In one video posted shortly before the competition started, Richter playfully receives a slap on the rear from his mentor. “You probably thought that was funny. But what if the roles were reversed?” Richter asks before playfully turning upside down and receiving another slap from Slater. Their social media activity is also reminding people on TikTok that they’ve been fans of his for years. With more Gen-Z viewers tuning in this season for stars like Alix Earle and the Mormon Wives, this gives Richter a chance to remind them that he’s the voice of Mort from Madagascar.

Richter wholeheartedly credits Slater with his achievements on the show, both in his dancing and his popularity on TikTok. “She’s the Cecil B. DeMille of our TikTok,” Richter explained to his friend Conan O’Brien on his podcast.

Although they didn’t begin with the highest scores-they only just edged out Corey Feldman and Jenna Johnson for last place last week-Richter has emphasized how seriously he views the competition. His combination of humor and genuine effort has quickly earned him the title of the season’s “People’s Princess.” “All this exercise has really improved my self-esteem,” Richter shared with Slater during rehearsals last week. “I feel emotionally vulnerable and open, and it’s been a wonderful experience.”

“I feel so protective of him,” one fan said last week, visibly emotional while seemingly voting for him on her phone. He’s exploring various strategies to ensure he stays in the competition, even if it means encouraging comparisons to infants: “Whatever it takes to get the vote.”
