As a big music fan, I was really shocked when Duffy suddenly disappeared from the spotlight. After years of silence, she shared a heartbreaking account of what happened, hinting at a truly awful experience. Now, she’s finally going to tell her full story in a new documentary coming to Disney+ and Hulu. Most of us probably first heard her with the amazing song “Mercy” back in 2008 on her album Rockferry. She released another album in 2010, but then just… vanished. Then, in 2020, she revealed she’d been through something incredibly traumatic – she said she was raped, drugged, and held captive for days. This documentary promises to shed light on everything, and I think it’s a really important story to tell.
The new documentary will tell the story of Duffy’s life, from her childhood in Wales to her rapid rise to fame and eventual decision to leave the public eye after a deeply traumatic experience. In 2020, Duffy explained she was sharing this story to help her heal and move forward, though she doesn’t expect to ever return to being the person people remember.
